Essex Crossing reveals details for 263-apartment building by Handel Architects

The project will rise at site four at the Lower East Side megaproject

Details have emerged on yet site another site at the fast progressing Essex Crossing megaproject on the Lower East Side. Plans were filed Wednesday for a 25-story mixed-use tower to rise on site four of the nine-site megaproject, The Real Deal reports. The building will be located at 180 Broome Street and will come with 263 apartments.

Plans also call for retail on the cellar level. This is separate from Essex Crossing’s massive Market Line, which will run along the ground floor of this building. Office space will located on floors two through five, and all the apartments will be above that.

The developers have roped in Handel Architects to design the tower though the latter hasn’t yet released any renderings for the project. Handel’s other building at Essex Crossing is the largest at the megaproject (site two) and is located at 115 Delancey Street. It will come with 195 rentals, a new Essex Street Market, and a 1,250 Regal movie theater. Construction recently got underway on that site.

The megaproject achieved some milestones recently with Dattner Architects’s senior housing building at 175 Delancey Street having topped out, and sales on Essex Crossing first condo (SHoP’s 242 Broome Street) set to get underway this fall.
