Sprawling Jane Street loft with quirky midcentury vibe returns for $11.5M

The enormous apartment at 68 Jane Street has plenty of fascinating furnishings

This enchanging pre-war West Village co-op offers more than 4,700 square feet of intriguing living space. Among its many charms: 28 enormous windows—some of which are "dramatically arched"—sweeping city views, 11.5-foot beamed ceilings, maple flooring, tons of exposed brick, and what appears to be a giant wooden mushroom sculpture (?) in the living room.

As of this writing, the apartment is configured as a four-bedroom, complete with 2.5 bathrooms, chef’s kitchen, a great room, a playroom, a laundry room, and two "bonus rooms," one of which seems to be presently serving as an indoor jungle. But that’s all flexible! As the listing points out, the place doesn’t really have any structural walls, so "the possibilities to transform this blank canvas are endless."

For a blank canvas, though, the home certainly comes with plenty of amenities (as it well should, given the price). The kitchen features all brand-name appliances, the place is best accessed by private elevator, and at least one of the bathroom sinks is an ode to petrified wood. Also, William Dafoe would be your neighbor (he’s got the penthouse).

Though the brokerbabble claims the apartment is "available now for the first time in 40 years," that’s not quite true: It was last listed in April 2015, and at $11.5 million, it’s gotten an ever so slight price cut.
