Looking to lease 160,000 square feet at 1 Manhattan West
The Manhattan West megaproject may be getting a major new tenant — the National Hockey League. The group is looking to lease 160,000 square feet of space at 1 Manhattan West, Crain's reports. The currently under construction office building is located at the corner of West 33rd Street and Ninth Avenue.
NHL's current office is located close to the Rockefeller Center at 1185 Sixth Avenue. The organization has been scouting for a new office space for several months, according to Crain's, and is now in talks with Brookfield Properties, the developers behind to the Manhattan West megaproject.
The building in question at 1 Manhattan West will be constructed at an estimated cost of $2.1 billion. The project was able to move forward last year when law firm, Skadden Arps signed for 550,000 square feet of space at the building, allowing Brookfield to move forward with construction. Skadden has since asked for an additional 70,000 square feet of space at the 67-story building.
Construction on 1 Manhattan West is expected to wrap up in 2019.
