First look at Long Island City's gas station-replacing condo

The six-story condo will come with 37 apartments

The ever-increasing frequency with which gas stations are being replaced by condos isn’t a phenomenon restricted solely to Manhattan. Queens is feeling the pinch as well. Developers have unveiled the first rendering for a six-story condo that will rise on the former home of a gas station at the corner of 41st Avenue and 23rd Street in Long Island City, YIMBY reports.

Foundation work is currently underway, and plans here call for 37 condos that will be stacked on top of commercial space which will likely be photo studios. Units on average will be about 680 square feet which leads YIMBY to speculate that they will likely be studios, and one-bedrooms.

The Department of Buildings application lists Zehao Fang as the owner of the property, and Xiahong Zhao as the applicant of record. Though YIMBY reports that the condo was designed by Angelo and Anthony Ng’s Architects Studio. Plans here also call for a recreation area on the second floor and a 19-car parking garage on the cellar level.
