New York City rent comparison: What $3,500 gets you

See what $3,500 rents in NYC neighborhoods like the Upper East Side, Williamsburg, Astoria, and more

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today we're looking at units renting for around $3,500/month.

↑ On the Upper East Side, $3,550 a month can get you a beautifully renovated two-bedroom, one-bathroom abode within a residential tower near Central Park. The sun-filled home has a chef’s kitchen, sleek bathroom, huge windows, and hardwood floors.

↑ In East Harlem, a 1,200-square-foot duplex apartment is going for $3,500 a month. The place has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and a 200-square-foot private terrace.

↑ This sleek Williamsburg pad has one bedroom, one bathroom, and is asking $3,508 a month. The home is rather spacious and incorporates amenities like high-end kitchen appliances, a washer/dryer unit, private balcony, and access to the rooftop lounge, equipped with grills and showers.

↑ For $3,515, a sprawling one-bedroom on Roosevelt Island’s waterfront can be yours (assuming you're okay with the whole living in Roosevelt Island thing). The apartment is flooded with sunlight courtesy its floor-to-ceiling windows, and it has lovely views of the city skyline.

↑ This modest East Village studio doesn’t appear to get much natural light, but it does have a decent amount of space with a sleep enclave, roomy kitchen, and large bathroom. Among the building amenities are a laundry room, fitness room, rooftop deck, and full-time concierge. It’s asking $3,420 a month.

↑ Asking an even $3,500, this Astoria duplex has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private backyard, and access to the building’s rooftop. Among the other amenities are ample closet space, hardwood floors, and oversized windows.
