Huge Lincoln Square triplex returns after a $12M price chop

No detail has been overlooked in this 8,100-square-foot home, asking nearly $30 million

You know the old saying: If at first you don’t succeed in selling your enormous, staggeringly-priced triplex, try, try again—by chopping a substantial amount off the asking price. (That is how that saying goes, right?)

This huge combination penthouse atop the Grand Millennium on West 67th Street first appeared on the market in 2014, asking an eye-popping $42 million. When it didn’t budge after nearly a year, it got chopped down to a 4,100-square-foot penthouse with a $23 million asking price. But even that didn’t move, so the pad is now back at its full, enormous size—8,100 square feet, with an additional 2,000 square feet of outdoor space—with an asking price of $29.995 million.

The abode was created by squishing three apartments together into one mega-penthouse, and so there are 16 rooms (eight of which are bedrooms), along with plenty of over-the-top touches. Some examples: In the study, a "cantilevered free-floating double stone desk with pop-up computer screens"; a "grand room" that has a movie screen and "a free-floating, four-sided bronze and glass fireplace"; and in a lengthy "art hallway," there’s a "custom bronze, fibre-optic ceiling and diamond-patterned wood floor." No detail has been overlooked, but it remains to be seen if that’ll be enough to finally snag a buyer.
