For $43,000/month, a loft in Nolita's celeb-filled former candy factory

After failing to sell for $11.5 million, self-proclaimed Leather King Mitch Alfus will attempt to rent out his huge apartment

After getting no takers for his four bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom condo for its $11.5 million ask, the self-proclaimed "Leather King" Mitch Alfus is now offering the Nolita condo as a $43,000/month rental. Last year, listings for the space started appearing on the market with a monthly ask of $40,000—yet somehow, Alfus made the decision to was increase that ask one year later.

So what does one get for such a hefty price tag? Well, there’s the option to rent the 4,060-square-foot loft furnished or unfurnished, along with wide cast iron columns, wood beams, and white-painted exposed brick galore. The brokerbabble describes the master bedroom as being "serene, glamorous, and sexy," with the master bathroom accommodating a "dramatic floating Waterworks bath tub" along with custom closets.

The building itself was once home to the Hawley & Hoops candy factory before being converted into celebrity haven 285 Lafayette, where the likes of Courtney Love, the late David Bowie and his wife Iman have all resided at one point.
