The penthouse in One Brooklyn Bridge Park first listed for $32 million
When this 11,000-square-foot penthouse in One Brooklyn Bridge Park first hit the market in 2014, it skyrocketed to the top of the list of Brooklyn's most expensive homes. While it's no longer the priciest pad in Kings County (that distinction belongs to a former mayor's home on Pierrepont Street), it remains near the top, even after getting a recent $8 million price cut—once listed for $32 million, it now wants $23,888,000.
The apartment itself is a five-bedroom, four-bathroom duplex with several slightly ridiculous amenities, including a wine room, a screening room with adjacent game room, a butler's pantry, and a fitness room. There's also a large terrace with skyline views, and an enormous renovated kitchen. It was first purchased in 2010 for only ("only") $6 million, and the brokerbabble touts the fact that it was "reconfigured and renovated to the highest of standards"—apparently, that warrants the dramatic price increase.
The unit sits atop One Brooklyn Bridge Park (also known as 360 Furman Street), which was the first of the income-generating residences to open within the waterfront park. It also happens to be one that will have its view of the Manhattan skyline and beyond obscured if a controversial pair of towers at Pier 6 actually come to fruition.
