6 Bike-Friendly NYC Apartments Available For Under $3,000

Here are six apartments you could rent if you're looking for a bike-friendly place

It's Bike to Work Week in New York City, and while the city's biking infrastructure isn't perfect, it's definitely improving. There are plenty of bike lanes (including some protected ones) throughout the city—some of which happen to be located near rather nice apartments. Here, take a look at six of the nicest apartments we found that tick off boxes for bike-friendliness; not only are they located near bike lanes, they also happen to be in buildings that have storage for your two-wheeler available.

↑ Upper East Side studio, $2,000/month

Distance to a bike lane: One block

This not-quite-Yorkville apartment is listed as a studio, but apparently has space for a queen-sized bed in a separate room. The building has bike storage, and it's not too far from the protected bike lane on First Avenue, as well as dedicated lanes on 90th and 91st Streets.

↑ Park Slope one-bedroom, $2,600/month

Distance to a bike lane: Two blocks west, one and a half blocks east

Park Slope is an excellent neighborhood for cyclists, and this apartment is no exception. It's located in a co-op building with bike storage, and it's situated between the dedicated Prospect Park West bike lane and a non-protected (but still useful) one on Fifth Avenue, as well as ones on 9th and 15th Streets.

↑ Long Island City one-bedroom, $2,764/month

Distance to a bike lane: Not even a block

Getting to Brooklyn on your bike would be a snap from this apartment, which is mere blocks from the brand-new bike lane on the Pulaski Bridge. The apartment itself is a one-bedroom in a new building, which comes with the requisite bike storage, as well as a gym and laundry room.

↑ Harlem one-bedroom, $2,500/month

Distance to a bike lane: Less than a block

While this Harlem apartment isn't close to protected bike lanes, there are ones on 119th and 120th Streets, just outside the front door, and the Second Ave bike lane is mere blocks away. The apartment itself is large and bright, with a huge kitchen. There's also bike storage in the building.

↑ Crown Heights one-bedroom, $2,100/month

Distance to a bike lane: Less than a block

This Crown Heights apartment, located on Dean Street between Franklin and Bedford Avenues, is surrounded by bike lanes and not a far ride to Prospect Park. The place itself is quite cute: it gets plenty of natural light, has a renovated kitchen, and is equipped with a bike room.

↑ Greenpoint one-bedroom, $2,650/month

Distance to a bike lane: Two blocks

While this apartment isn't surrounded by bike lanes like some of the other places we've featured here, it does have the benefit of being quite close to the waterfront-hugging protected lane along Kent Avenue. The building has bike parking, and the apartment has a new kitchen, large bedroom, and all mod cons.
