Author Ta-Nehisi Coates Buys Landmarked Brooklyn Brownstone for $2.1M

The distinguished writer purchases breathtaking Brooklyn brownstone

An astonishing landmarked brownstone in Brooklyn’s Prospect-Lefferts Gardens neighborhood has been sold to National Book Award-winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates. Coates, a national correspondent for The Atlantic, acquired 207 Lincoln Road for its $2.1 million asking price. The three-story home consists of four bedrooms, elaborate wedding cake moldings, original Tiger Oak, Maple, and Mahogany wood floors, and several sets of pocket doors.

As a writer on African-American issues, politics, and culture, it's somewhat fitting that Coates used an LLC by the name of Ellen and William Craft Excursions to purchase the home. Ellen and William Craft successfully escaped slavery in 1848 by going incognito as a white male (successfully pulled off by Ellen) and his slave (William).
