See what $1,600 can rent you in NYC neighborhoods like Harlem, Inwood, and Kensington
Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a weekly column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various NYC neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today, we're looking at apartments renting around $1,600.
↑ There's no floorplan associated with the listing for this Crown Heights one-bedroom, alas, but the description says it's a convertible two-bedroom. The kitchen is rather large with new appliances, and there's plenty of closet space. It's going for $1,625 per month.
↑ In Harlem, this bright little studio is asking $1,550 and comes with an updated kitchen and bathroom. It's located in a nice part of Central Harlem that's not too far from the subway.
↑ This one-bedroom in Inwood has plenty of vintage charm, starting with the building: it's located in a co-op that dates to 1939. There's a sunken living room, lovely hardwood floors (original to the apartment), and a cute revamped kitchen, all for $1,600.
↑ Look past the watermarks on the photos for this Kensington one-bedroom: The apartment itself is quite nice, and a pretty good deal at $1,550 per month. There's plenty of closet space and a nicely redone kitchen.
↑ There are no shortage of (relatively) inexpensive studios on the Upper East Side, including this space on East 74th Street. It comes with a separate kitchen that has clean, new-ish cabinetry, along with a decent sized bathroom, for $1,650.
↑ And finally, in Rego Park, $1,625 will get you a "huge" studio with a bathroom that's been kitted out with brand new fixtures. There's also lots of closet space, and enough room so that you could probably make it feel not quite so studio-like.
