It was asking $42 million two years ago, but now wants only $20 million
It may be time to induct a new apartment into the Pricechopper Hall of Fame. Back in 2014, a four-bedroom duplex on the 54th and 55th floors of the Time Warner Center hit the market with a $42.5 million asking price. But it hasn’t budged since then, despite getting a series of price cuts: first to $35 million just a few months after it was first listed, and then down to a slightly unbelievable $19.95 million last fall.
But apparently that price was too low: the apartment is back with a new broker (it was with Elliman, now it’s with Brown Harris Stevens) and a new asking price of $20 million, which is just about half of its original list price. Maybe the fourth time is the charm?
For that price, a buyer would get "the best of style, design and views," according to the brokerbabble. The sterile all-white decor of the previous listings is gone, though the details remain the same: There are four bedrooms, four bathrooms, 10-foot ceilings, high-end finishes, and gorgeous views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. But whether those views are worth $20 million remains to be seen.
