The building is almost at mid-height status
The enormous tower that is currently on the rise in Sheepshead Bay is just ten out of its 28 stories above ground and already it’s changing the sleepy neighborhood’s appearance, notably the Bay’s skyline.
As reported first by Sheepshead Bites, the building at 1501 Voorhies Avenue has made an impact on the landscape early into its erection, already towering over outside subway platforms while casting a shadowy glimpse into the real-estate boom happening along Sheepshead Bay’s waterfront. Once complete, the Perkins Eastman-designed building will stand at 321 feet, which is hardly tall by Manhattan standards but given its location it’s a pretty big deal. The 236-unit tower will stand four times taller than any of its surrounding buildings.
The building will be comprised of both rental and condo apartments and are expected to hit the market as soon as Spring 2017. Condo prices will reportedly begin around the $700,000 mark while rental asking prices have yet to be revealed. The building will offer commercial space on its lower levels, bike storage, parking spaces, multiple recreation areas and a sky lounge.
Construction is set to wrap up in 2018. Meanwhile, just a few yards away, Sheepshead Bay’s priciest condo building is rising at 1821 Emmons Avenue, bringing 58 condos with a potential average asking price of $1.33 million. So long to the sleepy Sheepshead Bay as we once knew it.
