Bed-Stuy Rentals Targeting Artists Hit the Market From $1,994

Building amenities include a workspace and art gallery

A large rental building that rose on the site of an empty lot bounded by Franklin, Myrtle, and Willoughby avenues in Bed-Stuy is now renting. The 118-unit building at 180 Franklin Avenue is just a stone's throw from Pratt Institute, and the building's amenities really cater to that. Along with the more standard fare of a landscaped common deck, resident's lounge, and gym, the building also gives tenants access to a music rehearsal studio, maker workspace, and art gallery.

Artist grads who aren't saddled in tuition debt can expect to pay upwards of $2,000 per month in rent for a studio in the building. Apartments at 180 Franklin Avenue range in size from studios to duplexes, with studios renting from $1,994 to $2,550, one-bedrooms from $2,525 to $4,900, two-bedrooms from $4,000 to $4,900, and duplexes from $3,600 to $4,900.

Rentals officially launched today, but listings have been on StreetEasy for about two weeks now. Move-ins are expected June 1, just in time for fresh Pratt grads. Presumably a step up from dorm life, the rentals feature recessed lighting, Bosch washers and dryers in every unit, Fisher & Paykel refrigerators, Bosch ranges, and Blomberg dishwashers.

The building was developed by Muss, who took the site over from Adam America Real Estate, and designed by Issac & Stern with interiors by Hadas Metzler. A full photo tour, below.
