Williamsburg rentals up for grabs through affordable lottery from $788/month

The Meekerman will have 50 apartments in total

Forty one sparkling new rentals two blocks from McCarren Park in Williamsburg are now up for grabs through an affordable housing lottery spotted by 6sqft.

The Meekerman at 410 Manhattan Avenue—the fourth project by Dunn Development in Williamsburg—will offer a mix of studios, one bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, earmarked for New Yorkers earning less than 40, 50, 60, and 80 percent of the area median income. Eight of the apartments are designated specifically for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities, with on-site support services provided by AHRC New York City. The project is the second in New York State to be completed under the LIHC Mixed-Income Pilot Program.

Meekerman’s affordable studios start at $788/month, while the priciest two-bedrooms in the building will go for $1,403/month. Besides a pretty sweet location at Manhattan Avenue and the BQE, the energy-efficient building has a landscaped backyard and kids’ play area, a roof terrace, a big community room, and bike storage.

Eligible New Yorkers can apply for any time between today and December 8th, when the lottery officially closes. If you already live in Brooklyn Community Board 1, so much the better: residents get preference for 50 percent of the units. Full eligibility requirements are here.
