Morris Adjmi tapped for new West Village apartments

An 18-unit, six-story building will rise on the far edges of Perry Street

Prolific firm Morris Adjmi Architects—which currently has a bunch of NYC projects in the works—is adding another building to its portfolio. YIMBY reports that William Gottlieb Real Estate has filed plans for a six-story, 18-unit building on Perry Street in the West Village, with Adjmi’s firm as the architect of record.

The project will rise at 156-162 Perry Street, which is currently home to a few low-rise buildings, including a garage. In addition to the 18 units, the new building will have a fitness room, bike storage, a laundry room, and a roof terrace (along with one private terrace, presumably for an extra-fancy apartment). There will also be three parking spaces, assuming the plans get approved as they are currently. A demolition permit was approved over the summer.

The site may also be under DEP investigation for possible brownfield conditions, thanks to the site’s past as housing a chemical manufacturer and a turpentine company (fun!). More details on that can be found here.
