Jessica Chastain’s Greenwich Village pad sold for just under $2M

The Oscar-nominated actress has already moved on to Midtown

As usual, it is a good day to be Jessica Chastain. According to Real Estate Weekly, the two-time Academy Award nominee just sold her pre-war Greenwich Village apartment for $1.9 million, which, for those keeping track at home, is $100,000 over the initial asking price. Chastain initially considered renting her former Mercer Street digs for $11,500 a month, but ultimately decided to go with a more permanent solution.

The Zero Dark Thirty star’s Mercer Street co-op has no shortage of amenities, including an open kitchen (with fancy appliances), a wood burning fireplace, and a swanky master bath with heated floors. The real showstopper, though, is the wide oak circular staircase connecting the duplex’s top and bottom floors, and adds a contemporary, sculptural sort of flair. Chastain bought the apartment in 2012 for $1.2 million.

Back in March, she and her fashion executive boyfriend, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, bought a $5.1 million co-op across the street Carnegie Hall after Chastain reportedly "fell in love" with the building’s theatrical history—the apartment once belonged to legendary composer Leonard Bernstein.
