Virtual Reality Tour Offers New Looks at Pacific Park Megaproject

Take a tour of the forthcoming Brooklyn megaproject through the magic of virtual reality

Although construction is still underway on the Pacific Park megaproject, it’s not impossible to get a taste of what the final product may look like. An animated virtual reality (VR) video offers up the opportunity to simulate the experience of walking through the complex, including interaction with 550 Vanderbilt, the 17-story luxury condo building, and the eight-acre park that runs through it.

Using a VR headset or app, participants can get inside information about areas like the promenade, lawns, 550 Vanderbilt’s lobby, and the fitness center at 535 Carlton, as they simulate walking through the park that will connect the megaproject's various buildings. For those without recommended viewing equipment, there is the option to view stills and panoramic views on a desktop or smartphone.

Once completed, Pacific Park will be 22-acres occupied by a mixture of 6,000 market-rate and affordable housing apartments. One of the rental towers, 461 Dean Street, just recently topped out construction; meanwhile, 550 Vanderbilt is starting to look like its renderings, as captured in a new series of photos by Field Condition.
