The Queens neighborhood's building boom continues
The skyscraper boom in Long Island City continues: The neighborhood will soon be home to a 964-foot not-quite-supertall, a 50-story rental building developed by Rockrose, and another 54-story building, also by Rockrose. And now, according to YIMBY, the neighborhood will be getting yet another tall tower; this one will rise 703 feet, according to the plans on file with the Department of Buildings, with the possibility of 921 apartments over 66 stories.
The building would be located at 43-30 24th Street, which is currently home to a low-rise warehouse and office building. The new structure would span more than 800,000 square feet, and would be mixed-use; in addition to those hundreds of apartments, the building would hold a parking garage (and bike parking), ground-floor retail, a gym, office space, and other amenities for residents.
The site also has the benefit of being mere blocks from the subway, which could prove plenty attractive to prospective residents once things get moving on this project (assuming they do anytime soon). The architect of record is Goldstein, Hill & West, and the developer, per YIMBY, is Stawski Partners, which also has holdings in Midtown.
