Go Inside the Lushly Appointed Rooms of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House

21 designers spent six weeks transforming this year's house

Now in its 44th year, the annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House chose the Carlton House Townhouse at 19 East 61st Street for its almost month-long celebration of some of the best interior designers across the country this year.

For this year's event, 21 interior designers were given six weeks to transform their allocated spaces in the house, which is on the market for $49.5 million. The designers had over 9,700 square feet of space to work with altogether, and this year's crop of interior design mavens includes the likes of Eve Robinson Associates, Olasky & Sinsteden, and Victoria Hagan Interiors.

Tickets cost $35 per person and proceeds go to the youth development center, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The event attracts thousands of people each year, and this year the organizers are anticipating about 15,000 attendees.

The show opened yesterday, and for the opening reception floral designer Preston Bailey created a 12-foot floral replica of the show house.
