Craig Newmark and his wife snagged a lovely duplex with a library
Craig Newmark, founder of the famous advertising board where one can essentially find anything, has closed on the home of late Wall Street investment banker and attorney, Robert Pirie, according to The Real Deal.
Located on the first two floors of a 19th-century townhouse, the Greenwich Village duplex has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, 11-foot ceilings, and a pair of wood-burning fireplaces, one being in the carriage house-turned-library. The home also boasts a landscaped garden, temperature-controlled wine room, and a nifty spiral staircase. The Hans Hoffman Art School briefly called this house home from 1936 to 1938.
Newmark and his wife, Eileen, reportedly purchased the co-op for $5.9 million. The house was listed by Brown Harris Stevens—and no, it was not listed on Newmark's namesake site, Craigslist.
